Video Alert: How to Communicate Clearly
World-renowned journalist Elise Labott and founder of Zivvy Media offers some thoughts for The Rundown Community.
The Rundown is working on it’s video content in short form. Our content will span new technologies and how it impacts the whole space of communications and content creation.
I do want to highlight that it will also include a range of baseline in-depth comms courses such as how to interview, how to moderate a panel, how to deliver speeches, crisis management, opinion piece writing, briefing a principle, social media strategy, sourcing, breaking news, digital literacy, Mis/Dis information. In my work in the past 10 years since leaving CNN, these are areas, particularly in emerging markets, that I am asked about most.
Small wins!
As we develop our new Ed tech platform, we have the advantage of integrating AI right from the start, where relevant, in the initial architecture of our product version one. My Co.Founder Thomas is working hard on writing integration tests for course progress, developing the progress bar, and getting our media assistant Alisha in a basic chat mode.
Communicating Clearly
While I know it’s been all AI, all the time, one aspect i’ve been hearing a lot and talking more about is the importance of basic human skills, like empathy, like critical thinking and the ability to communicate. I know we call them “soft skills” but they are hard assets. More often than not, the game-changer between success and failure, especially in an AI world.
The danger is that if we invest too much in developing AI and too little in developing human consciousness, the very sophisticated artificial intelligence of computer might only serve to empower the natural stupidity of humans. — Yuval Harari
So with that in mind here’s a short video on communicating clearly from Elise Labott.
We worked together at CNN covering the State Department and Condoleezza Rice. It was an amazing three years covering US foreign policy and flying around the world. And loads of mint chocolate chip ice-cream!
